let’s go morocco

December 17, 2009

Moroccan wedding blankets seem to be everywhere this week (like here and here, and something similar here).

The photos above are from Moroccan Goodies. She has a ton of, what else, Moroccan Goodies (like those Beni Ourain rugs that Williams Sonoma Home and so many others have mass produced).

L’Aviva Home also has some gorgeous blankets, and I love how she photographs them – they can really be appreciated as works of art when displayed on vertical surfaces.

I love the glitz and glam that the sequins give to what would otherwise be another ethnic textile. Each sequin is hand sewn (obviously!) by prospective brides and the women in their lives, and it is believed that these blankets protect from the evil eye. And who doesn’t need a little evil eye protection these days?
