the flea

February 15, 2010

Hola blog amigos! How was your weekend?

I ventured out to the Brooklyn Flea which, for the winter, is in the former Williamsburgh Savings Bank. Quite the remarkable setting.  I just love old buildings. I can look at the architecture for hours. Check out the door to the safe.

This photo does no justice – go see it in person!

Now that’s a solid door.

This Flea by far surpasses the one in Chelsea in my opinion. It seems like an edited version with not as much junk. There is a healthy mix of old stuff and stuff by local artists and some delicious bites to keep you energized.

The highlight for me was this chair. I wanted the set of two. But the vendor was asking $300 and it didn’t seem like he’d budge too much, plus, I don’t have any extra money or extra square feet.

The base is fiber glass which I’d paint in some form of a pink (surprise, surprise), and I’d leave the upholstered yellow vinyl because it’s in good condition and pretty funky.

Here are some more vintage finds…

These lights below aren’t vintage but they’re certainly cool. The graffiti light would be sweet in a boy’s bedroom – love it!

And I can’t go without mentioning all of the yumminess that takes place in the safe downstairs…these dips are freaking delicious and this and this will fill all of your sweet tooth needs.
