In love…with a bathroom

December 13, 2010

We can’t begin to tell you how excited we are for this master bathroom renovation to be almost complete. It is so dreamy we might just vacation in this Westchester home and stay in the bathroom the whole time.

By combining a really yucky old little bathroom with a small closet and an awkward in between area we created a completely luxurious retreat…with a claw foot tub, huge standing shower with a rain shower head and a color palette that inspires soothing relaxation (not to mention radiant floor heating which makes standing on marble flooring in the dead of winter not only tolerable but simply divine!).

Antiqued mirror will soon be covering the back wall behind the claw foot for some d-r-a-m-a and elegance.

id 810 design tip: for extra luxury (and practicality) install two shower heads. One regular shower head for day to day use, and one super sized rain shower head for stress relief after long days.

This light fixture is simple but elegant, and adds the perfect touch.

The detail of this Kohler “Ricochet” sink are a subtle but surprising and pair perfectly with the classic Harrington crosshandle faucets.

It’s hard to tell from this iphone pic (but no iphone complaints here, I’m in love with it), but the mosaic underneath the claw foot follows the same diagonal pattern as the larger tiles on the floor. As we always say, it’s all in the details.

Where did you ever find this bath tub? I love it! Very classic!

It’s by a company named Barclay – our clients knew from the beginning that this is exactly what they wanted. We toyed with the idea of painting the underside of the tub an accent color which you can do as well.
